## Understanding the Rhema Word

Well, you're gonna know about it here shortly.

And we're going to talk about some things that literally are changing our lives and can help continue to bring us into what God has for us.

I want my experience in God to continue to grow.

I wanna continue to mature in the things of God and progress in the things of God.

You know, some people, they say, well, you know, I just don't want to be too presumptuous or too pushy.

You know, God, if I could just have a little, just a little blessing, if I could just miss hell and make heaven, well, that's great.

Jesus said, I am come that you might have life and life to the fullest, even though the devil came to steal, kill and destroy.

Well, we've been given authority and we've been given the ability to choose what we want to do.

Do we want God's best for us or do we think we got something better?

Amen so the title is is a is a it's about the Word of God and To the Holy Spirit and then to us Someone said this and it stuck with my mind.

They said, the Word of God was spoken so that it could be written, so that it could be spoken.

And the more I think about that, it's not just a jingle, it's true.

The word of God was spoken so it could be written so it could be spoken.

And so the word of God needs to be on our lips and in our hearts, amen?

It doesn't matter if it's lifestyle on earth.

God's word has something to say about it.

And the word of God reproduces after itself.

It's a divine seed with divine life in it.

return on that which has been sown into your heart.

And it's made, in fact, the Bible says being born again, not of corruptible seed but of incorruptible, the word of God which lives and abides forever.

Does it not say that in 1 Peter 1, 23 or some such verse?

And so what that means is we've got eternal power in our lives and at our disposal.

Will we, how much will we benefit from it?

And so, I just want to share the progression of the word.

Needs to be respected and the word needs to be

to be received, and the Word needs to be imagined and thought upon and meditated upon and spoken.

And you know, the Bible says in John 1, it says, the word was made flesh and he dwelt among us.

So when we talk about Jesus being the word, we're talking about the whole Bible, the Old and New Testament.

In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God, amen?

And so the first thing I wanna share is that Jesus spoke the word of the Father.

John chapter 12, verse 50, the second part of it, says, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak." So even though Jesus is the word, he was on the earth and during his ministry and before his ministry, he only said the things that the Father said.

And he's still only saying the things that the Father speaks.

And then next, the Holy Spirit speaks the words of Jesus.

So first, Jesus speaks the words of the Father.

How be it when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth, for he shall not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak.

So whatsoever the Spirit shall hear, that shall he speak.

So he says, and he will show you things to come, and he shall glorify me, this is Jesus talking, and show it unto you.

First is the Father speaking, and Jesus takes the words of the Father, and he speaks them.

And then there's the Holy Spirit who takes the words of Jesus and he speaks them.

Now, do we handle the Word of God with the same faithfulness as Jesus and the Holy Spirit?

We can realize that the word of God is every...

It's coming out of the mouth of Jesus, because the word is the word, amen?

And so we need to realize the incredible importance of dwelling on the word.

The more I grow in Christ, it's proportionate to how much I'm thinking the word, how much I'm applying the word to my life.

The eternal, supernatural word of God has enough power to take care of, and I love it, once again, I'll probably say this many, many times, I love what R.W.

I don't mean to minimize the pain, problems, challenges people go through.

And so the Holy Spirit, He is now speaking to us.

And now is our chance to steward the Word of God and treat the Word with the respect and the reverence and use it the way that it is intended to be used.

And so next we speak the words of the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 2, verse 4, it says, and my speech and my preaching was not with enticing word.

Power and so the Apostle Paul got his speaking and his preaching and his words from the Holy Spirit.

And so do we, we get the word from the Holy Spirit.

He's showing us truth, he's prompting us, he's speaking to us, he's leading us.

I called up my sister the other day, the 1 who got saved a few years ago, and she had been complaining.

She says, I just don't think I hear the Holy Spirit.

Spirit, you just think sometimes it's just you thinking when it's the Holy Spirit.

Because sometimes it's a still small voice.

Sometimes it's not going to be real loud.

But a lot of times it's just a prompting.

I just felt impressed to call her and tell her something.

She says, well, I'm driving through the neighborhood in front of the school and the police station and stuff, and I'm decreeing.

I'm like, and you don't hear from the Spirit of God.

I'm like, that's not, you know, most, you know, you got to hear from the Spirit of God to have, to even have a desire to do such a thing.

And I said, well, I just feel that the Lord prompted me to tell you this, that you hear from the Spirit of God and He's speaking to you and you are led by the Spirit.

For the Bible says, as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

It's not an extra privilege, it's normal for the Christian to be able to hear from the Spirit, amen?

Because I don't know, I don't know why she started crying, but it meant something to her.

Thank God, I'm glad I just obeyed the prompting of the Holy Spirit and called her, amen?

Now Paul said, we just read it here, it says that he didn't preach with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit.

We need to speak it with the same Spirit, the same authority, the same attitude that Jesus speaks it, that the Holy Spirit is speaking it, we need to realize, and this isn't just a privilege, this is a God-given right, and this is a God-given with his words.

You know, that is a powerful statement, amen?

And the word of God is so powerful and it's such a strong influence, such a strong force in this world.

And it's not just a force, it's a person.

Through the Son, through the Holy Spirit, to us, and it stays strong, it stays full of the Spirit, it stays true, and it stays authoritative, and the word is settled in heaven and earth.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but Jesus said, my words will never pass away.

And so because of that, his word, everything hinges on his word.

In fact, that's how the worlds were made, we understand, through the word of God.

And so the word is so important to us and I'm glad we're talking about it.

You know, I don't know if this is a good example or not.

Thomas Edison, you Remember the man who created the light bulb?

He was in competition with a guy named Tesla.

And now Tesla, he was a genius, he was an inventor, but Thomas Edison had just invented.

And Thomas Edison, he had a dream to have a light bulb in every house all across America.

And so Thomas, he said, the way to do this is with DC, direct current electricity.

He says, direct current electricity gets weaker and weaker as it goes away from the generating plant.

He says, if you go direct current, you're gonna have to have a big old generating plant every couple of miles all across the whole country.

He says, alternating current, you start powerful here and it'll go hundreds and hundreds of miles and stay the same.

And I say the current and the power of the Holy Spirit with time, the power of God is strong and the power of God is strong in us.

In fact, the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge him, the eyes of our understanding enlightened, that we be strengthened with might in our inner man by the Holy Spirit, amen.

And so the Christian is to be strong in God, not weak, amen?

The Christian is not supposed to be walking around in defeat and walking around in depression and groaning and focusing on all the problems and all the things that are going wrong.

But instead, we are to be rejoicing in the victory that the word of God is coming into our lives and experiencing that which God has for us.

And so I just like to hang around people that are full of faith.

I like to hang around people that got the word in them.

I like to hang around people that have joy and peace and excitement.

I like to hang around those hoos in Whoville, amen?

They're not being defined by what the Grinch did to them.

Can't he come up with, no, that's what I got.

You know, the whole time Satan wants to stop the flow of the word.

What did he do to Eve when he met her in the garden?

What did he say to her when he said, half God said?

He tried to malign that which God had said to her, tried to twist her understanding of it.

He used the word of God a lot of times when he tempted Jesus in the wilderness.

He used the word of God wrongly, misquoted it in order to try to steal the word from the word.

But he spoke it truthfully, not from a lying spirit, not from a lying attitude.

And so the devil is very busy trying, because as soon as you get the word, what does the Bible say?

Persecution will come for the word's sake.

Some people will say, well, you know what?

Things haven't been going real smooth for me, and I just got back from this great seminar and got a bunch of word in me, or just had a great church service, and things don't seem real smooth right now, well, it might be persecution coming for the word's sake, but don't you be afraid of that because the Not a victim, and you don't have to lose your joy because your victory has been planted in you and you cannot lose for winning, amen?

And so the word of God has power, has authority over the devil and over circumstances in this earth, Hallelujah.

And you can be sitting in the middle of a...

But the devil, you know, in Hebrews chapter 10, verse 32, is sort of an interesting, and this is probably not on your refrigerator door.

It says, but call to remembrance the former days in which after you were illuminated, you endured a great fight.

That were being killed and persecuted and jailed for their faith.

Still go through some things and there's always going to be a battle.

There's always going to be a battle, and the battle is gonna be in your mind.

The battle is gonna be over the word, for you to forsake the word, because if he could get Eve to forsake the word, if he could get Jesus to forsake the word, if he can get a believer to forsake the word, the power of God will leave the earth.

Because the power and the anointing is in the word, is it not?

And so if he can cast doubt, and if he can get us all discouraged, why, that's how he's gonna win.

Yes, it is a spiritual battle, but we need to win and to be victors, not victims.

So somebody said, fight always follows illumination.

It says, but you call illuminated, you were endured a great fight of afflictions.

Jesus said, persecution will arise for the Word's sake.

Satan will always try to stop the flow of the Word.

And it's our responsibility to keep the Word strong in us.

God will do some things, and he will help us to do other things.

He'll grace us, but we've got to decide to do it.

Am I going to receive Jesus as Lord of my life?

Well, if you keep saying someday God's gonna save me Guess what?

Someday the next day the next day the next day will keep saying someday God's gonna save me and you guess what it really You're not gonna get saved because it takes it Gave us a choice to choose him.

But he realizes that true love has to have a choice and so thank God for the ability for us to choose Jesus for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever should believe on him should not perish but have what Everlasting life he loves us so much Amen, And the way we get saved is by simply receiving and believing His word and receiving what He did for us.

...Will always try to stop the flow of the word.

He tries to, now here's just a few things he'll try to do.

Or he might get you into spiritual pride.

If he gets you saved, he'll get you into spiritual pride.

That's exactly what he would like to do to steal the word out of your life.

Or he would like to get us to lose our joy because if we have no joy, we have no strength and we have no ability to resist Satan.

And the word is not in us because the word produces joy.

Or he'll get us, he'll try to get us to forget the word we've heard.

Or he'll try to get us to be a hearer and not a doer of the word.

I ain't about to do a thing he says, but you know, it's sort of entertaining.

Get a doer, be a hearer and not a doer of the word, amen?

Or he'll get you to not mix the word with faith and then it will not be able to profit you, amen?

I know that has never been a temptation for anybody here.

And that will short circuit his word in our lives immediately.

The reason why is because he's forgiven us for everything.

That's between them, God, and the jailer.

But between you and them, you need to release them.

There's a forgiveness that God forgives somebody if they repent, and then there's a forgiveness that you give to that person, and that is where you release them.

And A lot of times that's a serious work of the Holy Spirit, isn't it?

And the Holy Spirit is there to help us do that.

But the devil would love us to not be able to do that so that we can short circuit the word and the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives because no word is no power, is no Holy Spirit, is no joy, is no peace.

And the battle is always around the Word.

Remember, the first thing the devil, the tempter went after Eve, was about the word.

The first thing the tempter went after Jesus in the wilderness was about the word.

Because if he can steal the word, He can kill you and destroy you.

This is about abundant life versus just barely existing.

But we have abundantly and experience fullness of peace and joy, amen?

God will help us, but it's our choice, amen?

And 1 way he helps me is he's been prompting me to pray more aggressively and I found out how you do that.

As God said, that's what he's going to try to do.

And then he's going to try to get us into to question the word.

Because if he can get you into self-condemnation, then you can he can get you to not believe that the goodness of God is for you.

Because you've sinned too much, you've gone too far, you've made too many mistakes, and you get into that self-condemnation, and you no longer feel you are qualified to receive God's best.

And he gets your eyes off the blood and the forgiveness of God and into your own works.

And that'll get you off the word every time if you allow that to happen.

God says, stay strong in the word and in the spirit.

Don't let that word and that power of that spirit diminish as it flows from God the Father, through Jesus, then through the Holy Spirit, and then to you.

And the spirit and the word always agree.

And so when the spirit tells you something, it may not be Bible, but it will always be biblical.

And so, yeah, the more we know the Bible, the more accurately we're able to hear.

He'll be able to tell us things that we know not.

But I wouldn't minimize the little promptings the small prompt Your voice but it's quiet inside the Bible says in the Old Testament It says there will I think it's in Isaiah There will be a voice behind you saying this is the way walk ye in it and we can expect that We can expect guidance in every area of our lives.

Now, I'm not going to say, you ask God, what color shirt should I wear today or something like that.

If you're concerned about that, what I would do, if you're concerned about what color shirt you should wear, just buy all the same colors.

So, I wanna talk to you a little bit about how to turn the spoken word into the speaking word.

And I just wanna share with you, I remember the first year that I went to Bible school, it was a Bible school in Minneapolis, and the teacher was a good man.

He taught some things that had me a little bit confused.

So this teacher in Minneapolis was teaching Bible doctrine class, and the subject of healing came up.

And he said, in effect, unless the written word of God becomes a rhema word, and through some unexplained sovereign way, he didn't explain that, the promises of healing in God's word are not to be relied upon.

And if I said the name of it, you all would know what it is.

But he said to all the students, hundreds of students, that

a full Gospel Church, unless that Logos word becomes a rhema, unless that written word in your heart, that promise is not to be relied upon concerning the subject of healing.

And I thought to myself, that's interesting.

So that means that the word, if it's just not, if it's a written word, and if it's not a spoken word by the Holy Spirit straight into your heart, that it doesn't apply, that's interesting.

Maybe I can steal until I receive a rhema word that says I shouldn't.

Well, I don't know if I've received a rhema word concerning lying.

Well, maybe I should lie until I get a rhema word that says I got to stop lying.

In the meantime, I can say anything I want and take anything I want.

Well, then they say, well, we're only talking about the promises of God, not the commands of God.

Oh, does that mean that you need to receive a rhema word from God in order to get...
