# Spirit Within and Spirit Upon: A Journey of Joy and Guidance

## Introduction
Welcome to our newsletter on the spirit within and the spirit upon. In this series, we've been exploring the different aspects of the Holy Spirit and how it impacts our lives. Today, we'll continue our discussion on the spirit in guidance and the spirit-led attitude.

## Soaking in the Message
We've been discussing the spirit within and the spirit upon for the past few weeks. The reason for this series is to allow the Holy Spirit to soak the message into our hearts. We want to be transformed and grow from glory to glory in our understanding of the Holy Spirit's role in our lives.

## Finding Joy in the Spirit
The spirit of God is a spirit of joy. If there's no joy, there's no spirit. We are encouraged to experience the joy of the Lord in every aspect of our lives, whether at work, at home, or at church. The joy we receive from the Holy Spirit is unspeakable and goes beyond reason. It's a joy without reason, even in the face of challenging circumstances.

## The Power of the Blood of Jesus
The blood of Jesus has made us worthy, accepted in the beloved, and translated us out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of his dear son. We have every reason to rejoice in the Spirit because of the blood of Jesus. We are encouraged to express our joy before the Lord through praise, rejoicing, and thanksgiving.

## The Spirit Within and the Spirit Upon
We've previously discussed the two workings of the Holy Spirit: the spirit within and the spirit upon. The spirit within blesses us and produces the fruit of the spirit, while the spirit upon empowers us for service and blesses others. It's important to have both aspects of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

## The Spirit in Guidance
The Holy Spirit often leads us through his peace. We are encouraged to let the peace of God rule in our hearts and be an umpire in our decision-making process. The peace of God guides us and helps us make accurate decisions in alignment with God's will.

## The Spirit-Led Attitude
It's essential to obey the instructions and guidance we receive from the Holy Spirit with a spirit of love. The spirit-led attitude is just as important as following the guidance itself. We are reminded to approach every situation with love and humility, even when following the leading of the Holy Spirit.

## The Spirit and the Anointing
The anointing and the Holy Spirit are connected. The anointing is the burden-removing, yoke-destroying power of God that comes to us by the Holy Spirit. It is the power that breaks every yoke and brings freedom and favor to our lives.

## Conclusion
As we continue to explore the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives, let's remember to seek guidance through the peace of God and approach every situation with a spirit-led attitude of love. The Holy Spirit is our guide and helper, leading us into all truth and empowering us to live a life filled with joy and purpose.

You know, we've been talking about this subject, the spirit within and the spirit upon, for this is gonna be the third week.

And 1 of the reasons why I sort of like to do a series is because we can just soak in, just let the Holy Spirit soak the message into our hearts.

Because if we don't change, then we're wasting our time.

Bring us from glory to glory and bring us from understanding to understanding.

And on a little side note, I have to do this because Dick is making me do it.

So Dick has some jokes that he's told me that I have to do.

And so the first 1 is, where do boats go when they feel sick?

Why should you never play poker at the zoo?

And maybe there'll be some jokes that I can't blame on him coming up.

We'll see if we come up with some better ones.

But you know, the spirit of God is a spirit of joy.

And if there's no joy, there's no spirit.

And if we're not experiencing the joy of the Lord when we're at work, when we're at home, when we're at church, wherever we are, well, we're just missing out.

And that joy is unspeakable, and it goes beyond reason.

It's joy without reason, because bad things can be trying to get us, but we can have the fullness of joy, amen?

And we can have peace, and we can walk in all that he has for us.

Amen You know, I heard somebody say years ago and I never forgot it He said he said it doesn't matter so much what's going on around you what matters what's going on inside of you Because what's going on on the inside of us is eventually gonna cause what's going on around us to be good amen.

We'll say our path is like the light of dawn.

Spirit led life is a life full of joy And so I would just encourage you to just...

You plant that seed into God, it's like a sacrifice of joy.

He'll give it back to you many, many times over, amen?

And so sometimes we just gotta praise God a little bit when we don't feel like it, you know?

You know, come to think of it, Lord, I think maybe I will rejoice.

Well, Lord, well, well, yeah, Lord, I think I think I'll rejoice.

The Future that I have in you, my path is like the light of dawn.

Why Lord God, I'm not much of a dancer, but I can hop a little bit.

Nobody's seeing you, it doesn't matter, you know?

And sometimes it's just a good idea to hop before the Lord, amen?

And stir that gift up that's on the inside of you.

Hop in that thing where everybody was somber, you know?

And the preacher would preach or pray in a minor key or a minor tone, you know what I'm saying?

And most of what they had to say was bad news.

Because the blood of Jesus has made us worthy.

The blood of Jesus has accepted us in the beloved.

The blood of Jesus has translated out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of his dear son.

The blood of Jesus has made us new creations in Christ Jesus.

And the blood of Jesus has taken care of our righteousness and exchanged it with the righteous.

Be ashamed before God because of the blood of Jesus.

And we have every reason to rejoice in the Spirit.

The Bible says that Jesus rejoiced in Spirit.

And the original translation for that was He danced a jig.

And some of you who have a little bit more skill can dance also, amen?

Hop before the Lord, rejoice before the Lord, raise our hands before the Lord, Bow before the Lord, stand before the Lord, express your joy before the Lord God Almighty because he is worthy of our praise and our joy, amen.

And sometimes, inside of you, it just comes natural.

Hallelujah, that's, What are my notes saying Hallelujah In previous weeks, we mentioned some wonderful things from the Bible about the Holy Spirit and I'm just gonna review very quickly.

We mentioned that the Holy Spirit is extremely personable, extremely personable.

He can be honored, he can be obeyed, he's speaking, he is incredibly personable.

It's not, he's not an influence, he's a person.

And he's speaking, and he's comforting, and he's counseling, and he's our advocate, and he's interceding for us, and he cares for us.

And He has come on this earth, took the place of Jesus and is in fact, is doing a better job than Jesus.

Because he is speaking to billions of people all the time.

He's got a message for you and he's got a message for me.

And he is always there to comfort, always there to guide.

He will give you a solution when there is no solution.

Amen, he will give you the answer when nobody else has the answer.

He will direct your steps and there will be a voice behind you saying this is the way.

That brings you out of darkness and into light.

He will bring you out of poverty and into blessing and prosperity.

He will give you wisdom as to what you are to do.

He's very involved in our personal well-being.

What he says to you is not exactly word-for-word scripture, it will always be scriptural.

Really accurate in the spirit, they're strong in the word.

You get so used to the word, you get so used to what the spirit is saying to you through the word, that when you get a word from the Holy Spirit, you immediately can tell its authenticity.

It's sort of like a bank teller at the bank, the way that they tell false money or real money from fake money is they, that when something fake comes across, they can tell it right away.

And so that's what the word does for us as we feel the real thing so much that when something Hallelujah And so he imparts boatloads of joy.

I wanna just walk in his joy and his peace more than I ever have before.

And I believe that's there for us, hallelujah.

He totally took the place of Jesus on the earth and he fills us with the evidence of speaking in other tongues and divides unto us the gifts of the Holy Spirit as he wills.

Somebody said to me once, they said, well, I believe I have the gift of faith.

Well, if you read 1 Corinthians chapter 12, the last part of it, you'll find out that the Holy Spirit divides unto us the gifts severally as he wills.

Now he may use you frequently in the gift of faith, but it's up to him what gift he wants to use you in.

He owns the gifts and he uses us in them.

But I pray, the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 14, to covet the gifts, to covet the gifts, to covet the greater gifts.

And so I love it when the Holy Spirit to the Spirit and it's powerful and it's strong and it's just it's just explosive almost.

Sometimes it's just just as supernatural and and and we don't want to take it lightly just a prompting just a whispering, amen?

Just that still small voice, because that will lead us and guide us and bring us into God's perfect plan just as well, amen?

So however the Holy Spirit wants to lead us, and we studied before in Romans chapter 8, I think it was verse 12, it says, "'For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, "'they are the sons of God.'" Is that what it says?

And so we can expect to be led by the Holy Spirit.

In fact, Jesus said, "'My sheep know my voice

and the voice of my Son.'" And so we can expect to be led by the

In fact, Jesus said, my sheep know my voice.

Chapter 2, I believe it says something about the fact that the anointing of.

He even said, you have no need that any man should teach you because that anointing, the same anointing dwells in you.

Doesn't mean there shouldn't be teachers, Obviously, we wanna take that in context.

But the fact of the matter is, we don't have to always, always ask somebody else or rely on somebody else.

That doesn't mean that we shouldn't come to a mentor or somebody who is mature in the Lord and run something past him at 1 time or another.

Because a lot of times the Holy Spirit will use somebody else who's mature and they'll see something that you need.

And so it's always good to have a friend who is where you.

So he fills us with the evidence of speaking in other tongues and divides unto us the gifts of the Holy Spirit as he wills.

We also saw from the Bible repeated examples of the 2 workings of the Holy Spirit.

And that's when you get filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues.

We studied that, looked at that last week, got into it, especially for a Sunday morning, and then Spirit upon with the evidence of speaking in other tongues.

It gives you the fruit of the spirit, and it blesses you.

The spirit of PON is to use you for others.

It's for service, it's for power to bless other people.

And so we wanna have both aspects of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

I was going to work and I've been doing what I've been doing.

So I go to this job, I'm doing a remodel, and the lady has this director's chair that she sits down in front of me.

And I'm just teasing her a little bit, having a good time.

And she goes, well Ken, she says, I see you hung all these doors and they're all crooked.

She says, see where the ceiling is, it's more of a space, because the ceiling was sort of low, more of a space on 1 side than the other side.

And I said, well, what makes you think the doors are crooked and the ceilings are not crooked?

And she says, well, because I know those ceilings are perfectly level.

And I had been, you know, praying in tongues, but something came out that wasn't exactly the fruit of the spirit.

And I didn't say anything, thankfully, I just thought it.

And so, you know, sometimes when that happens, you just wanna, first thing you wanna do is shut your mouth, you know, and just count to 10.

And so I said, Well, let's go get the level.

So I got the level, and we went from door.

She goes, it looks like it's in the middle.

And she goes, well, I guess the ceiling is crooked.

Well, you know, I felt like telling her she needs to go downstairs and just do something else while I do, but I didn't.

But there's 1 thing I noticed the difference.

You can be praying in the Holy Spirit, but it's totally different than the fruit of the Spirit.

And so, but you know, I was about to get a little irritated and I said, hold it a second.

Because that power and ability is on the inside of me, amen?

And so before I said something stupid or something unkind, I exercised the fruit of the spirit.

And so yeah, thanks Bonnie, She told me good job, Kim.

You know, and I've seen people, I mean, I remember hearing stories about Catherine.

She'd be ready to minister and somebody would bug her, you know, just before she's ready to minister.

Well, some ministers, they can't handle that.

It's just like, you know, they get off track.

5 or 10 minutes before she was about to go up and minister.

And so what she had to do beforehand is she had to repent.

And somebody saw this, witnessed it, and they were sharing this experience.

And so she had to repent before God, before she got on stage.

But the reason why I'm saying this is there's a difference between the fruit and the gifts.

And you can be very, very gifted and really need to develop the fruit of the Spirit and the maturity, amen?

In fact, in 1 Corinthians, the Apostle Paul

And so they had to grow in the fruit of the spirit.

They had to grow in their morality and live in a holy life before God.

They had to grow as far as, not just sheep, but at some point, we should graduate to sheepdogs.

What it means is a sheep just wanders around and we are in 1 respect, we're God's sheep, and he's our shepherd, and the voice of a stranger will not follow, right?

But yet at some point, when we as believers start to grow up, we become sheepdogs.

What we do is we check the flock, we check what's going on in the body, and if there's a division, if there's a schism, if there's a lack of joy, if there's a need, why we're there to help keep things, we're there to help the flow of the spirit happen and keep that church healthy.

It's up to the pastor, no that ain't gonna happen, I'll tell you that right now.

And we're all growing and going together, hallelujah.

And we're all enjoying this thing together.

And so some of us may be sheep and that's okay.

Some of us may be sheepdogs and that's okay.

And don't ask me to find a scripture for that 1.

But anyway, the spirit within and the spirit upon.

We also saw in the word how important praying and singing in tongues is for the believers' faith walk in Christ.

He who prays and sings in the tongue edifies or builds up himself.

And we found out that we can pray in tongues concerning a certain subject.

We found that out in 1 Corinthians chapter 14.

And so it's very important that we exercise, otherwise the Holy Spirit would have never gave.

And then occasionally getting the interpretation of that mystery and allowing the Holy Spirit to use us in prayer, whether we're interceding, whether we're just praising him in tongues, whatever it is.

In fact, 1 Corinthians 14, he's talking about blessing in the spirit.

Do that with somebody who doesn't understand what you're doing because how will he understand who is at the table of the unlearned, amen?

And so we talked about that in previous weeks.

And so it's such a blessing and there's so many advantages to praying and singing in the spirit.

Praying and singing in tongues, hallelujah.

And we read from Dad Hagen's booklet, Why Tongues, great.

Speaking in tongues or speaking with tongues is an initial supernatural sign or evidence of the Holy Spirit's indwelling.

I have found in my own life that the more I pray and worship in tongues, the more manifestation of other gifts of the Spirit I have.

The less I talk in tongues, the less manifestation I have.

Speaking with tongues is the door into the rest of the spiritual gifts.

And I want to get into some other things about the Spirit.

And so I want to be talking about 4 aspects of the Holy Spirit.

I'm going to be talking a little bit about the Spirit upon, but there's some things that the Holy Spirit just quickened to me that we can benefit from.

The first thing I want to talk about today is the spirit in guidance, the spirit in guidance.

So how does Romans chapter 8 verse 14 work?

You know, as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Does it mean that the Holy Spirit guides you in everything?

You know, some people, they say, well, I pray and ask God which shirt I should wear today.

Well, I pray and ask God for everything, and he always speaks to me.

And you know, they probably just ate too much pizza the night before.

They didn't really hear from God on stuff like that.

The Holy Spirit pretty much is not going to tell you what shirt you're supposed to wear.

And so but yet and here's a major way how the Spirit leads us in God's regular basis.

Let's take a look at Colossians chapter 3 verse 50.

Now I want to share 2 things about that verse.

Some people say well I got a peace about this.

Is it the peace of God or is it a peace that's just a natural kind of a peace?

Learn the difference between the peace of God Because sometimes the peace of God will rule and reign in your heart when all hell is breaking loose all around you.

And you can just have the peace of God walk right on through it, amen.

And so the peace of God, it says, let the peace of God rule in your hearts, amen?

And then the second thing it says, it says rule.

And the Greek word for that is an umpire or be an arbitrator or an arbiter.

So allow the peace of God to be an umpire or an arbiter in your life.

And the Holy Spirit will lead you and guide you.

As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God, right?

A lot of times he will lead us by his peace.

It will be our umpire and it will be our arbiter.

And so what is going on on the inside in your spirit?

Is there peace concerning that decision that you are about to make.

And so the Ken Burns translation is, let God's peace, not a natural peace, be your umpire as you ponder decisions.

And so it's not real supernatural, it's not a loud trumpeting voice, it's not a burning bush, it's nothing like that, but you can get pretty accurate, real accurate, just by measuring what the umpire is saying on the inside of your heart, amen?

And that's something that we gain accuracy in.

And like I said last week, you know everyone needs a little bit of somebody to come alongside of us and help us to keep us on track.

In fact, 1 of the first ways that you will start to miss God is becoming a Lone Ranger.
