I have for you guys today 1 of the most popular selling wheels at my store the brand new Princeton Carbon Works wake 6560 the evolution the Evo model inspired by the Alta 3532 This is the latest edition of the wake 6560 with some revamped redesign technology on the wheel in today's video we'll be talking about everything that changed from this generation wheel from last generation wheel what will happen to the strata as well and talk about rim width weights and price points of this wheel set.

This here is the matte color with the rose gold finish.

I know that light's probably thrown off, but this is a beautiful rose gold finish.

They changed their decals on here as well.

And it's not their ever so pointy wheel like I mentioned before it is their alt 35 32 so there is a change to that rim depth shape which we'll talk about in just a second.

We'll go over all the colors all the pricing and the new configurations of what changed between these wheels.

Update I can't film my house because my wife's sleeping and her grandma's sleeping over and the store is getting the floors done.

So I'm inside my RV and we're getting ready for camping.

So what did they change to this wheel set and why is it better than the Strada?

So basically what they did, obviously overall, they changed the internal rim width and also the external rim width as well, taking it from what the Strada used to be, being inside the inner rim with a 20.5, this is now a true 21 millimeters on the interior width.

So it's going to be a little bit more of a comfortable ride and it'll accommodate a wider tire set up as well.

They went away from their larger deep dish sections.

And this looks much more of like a straight line and like a hexagon almost, instead of the more dimple section on there, like the design of the Alta 3532.

And for this reason, they said that this rim actually has a better aerodynamic profile.

And with this as well, they're able to make the rim itself lighter than the old school style rim by 10 grams each.

So each rim is now 10 grams lighter than the old Wake 6560 Strata.

Going forward, I believe the Evolution will be the only option.

I think they're going to get rid of like they did with the Corsa.

I believe that they're going to phase out the Strada now and just make the Evolution on there because of the fact that it's just going to be an overall better rim.

A wider internal rim with a lighter rim as well and tested in a wind tunnel with a GP5,725C at 30 miles an hour or 30 kilometers.

Yes, 30 miles an hour in the wind tunnel test against the older 6560 Strada.

So this wheel is faster than the older model and then they put this wheel up against the Zipp 454 the version 2 as well and that was 7.68 watts faster at 30 miles an hour with a gp5000 So not only is this wheel lighter than a Zipp 454, but it's also a more aerodynamic wheel overall.

They claim that this tactic buildup with this rim configuration as it sits is right around 1,354 grams.

I brought my scale today to weigh that thing, but even if it's in the 1,400 grams, for being a 65 millimeter depth wheel and being at this acclaimed weight, you're going against some of the biggest giants out there, like Revolve, the CLX Rapids, those are 1,500 gram wheel set.

You're going up against the Zipp 454 which are claiming a red run I think like 1450 or 1480 grams.

Some of the lightest wheels out there, some of the deepest dish wheels out there, they're 1 of the most best wheels out there in the market, this is still coming up lighter and more aerodynamic than all the other ones as well.

And I'm not gonna lie, my YouTube, the stuff I push on YouTube as well, the stuff I show on YouTube is definitely more catered to a YouTube audience, like the China builds, the cheaper builds, my cheapest bike I can build.

But speaking from personal experiences with wheel sets, the Princeton Wake 6560s, especially in our area, are 1 of the most popular wheel sets out there, 1 for just overall performance.

But 2, because of the fact that you get the most amount of options in terms of rim color choice, rim depth, hub choice.

You can do whatever you like, the list goes on and on.

So if you had a super bike of 10,000 to $14,000, would you wanna buy a very generic 2, $3,000 wheelset or would you wanna be different and stand out and make your bike customizable and choose exactly the configuration you want?

That's what Princeton does so well against the rest.

And not only that, them being such a high-end wheel market out there and having depths from over a 30 millimeter, a 40 millimeter, a gravel wheel, a 60 millimeter, a tri-spoke wheel.

The list goes on and on with how many features they have for wheels, but they still offer a rim brake version in this wheel set, this current wheel set right now, the Wake 6560 Evolution.

And also they're continuing the phase of keeping a hooked bead on the rim.

They're not going hookless, even though they stated that it is cheaper for manufacturers to make.

They believe that in overall safety for consumers, they're going to keep the hooked version on there.

So that way you're not limited to what tire choice configuration you run on here.

It is still the no hold bead for the rim channel.

So that way it's very easy to set up a tubeless tire configuration on there.

I mean, I really don't see a benefit to a hookless version for a road wheel system for a consumer yet.

I really do see the benefit going to manufacturers pockets because of the fact that you can literally buy this rim, like I said, and run whatever tire pressure you want, Very similar, whatever rim or sorry, tire width as well on there.

And I don't think the consumer would be able to feel the benefit at all of having a hookless bead compared to a non-hookless bead.

So really, I like the choice of a hooked wheel on there.

All right, so here's a better look at the color of this wheel set and the rose gold just goes super hard.

It's going to be hard to obviously match up a bike, but if you get like a matte black bike or a gloss bike, it's going to look really bad ass.

They changed the logo up on here as well.

On the top, the Princeton Carbon Works is much different.

Even have this little bit more of a pronounced valve hole as well right here.

And then also same for the Princeton graphics right here.

It's all a hexagon before it was just more like open shapes so it's much more pronounced.

This wheel set right here is going to be their most expensive configuration to have.

It has their tactic hubs on here And then this is considered their color option number 3 in terms of price point.

So this price point, this configuration set up right here is $4,500.

They also have 4 other new colors, which is a high-vis green, which looks bad-ass.

I'll put up all the colors after I say them.

A gloss purple and a gloss blue and the rose gold as well.

Then for this exact same hub on the exact same rim, they have the option for $4,300, which is their chrome, their gloss chrome, their gloss gold, their gloss white, and their gloss black.

And then for this exact same hub configuration, they have an agency matte black or matte white logo and that will be $4,100.

But like I mentioned before, you can actually get this exact same rim setups.

Let's say you didn't prefer this tactic or maybe this hub was out of your range or your price point You can get this exact same wheel set built up with a white industry hubs for $3,100 and obviously given whatever color choice you want to the price would go up but that's what Princeton does so well, is they do give you a lot of options there.

Spoke configurations for front and rear, 24 holes.

I'm sorry, 24 spokes for front and rear as well.

I would like to see less spokes in the front of the wheel because that does look like a lot, in all honesty, but I'm sure it's a stronger configuration it probably leads to a better weight limit for the consumer as well.

And then also for the hub options they have changed it I believe they took out tune hubs maybe just availability was a little bit difficult, but the hubs you can get on these wheels nowadays are, you can get White Industries, White Industries for rim brake, DT Swiss 240, DT Swiss 180.

You can get Tactic hubs, which are 1 of my favorite.

Have 1 of the best sounding hubs out there.

It also said there's a Tactic T2, which I think is a cheaper hub as well.

But again, a ton of hub options for a wheel.

So let's say that you were looking at a Zip 454 and you didn't like the zip hub, then you have options I like when companies give consumers options It probably costs the manufacturer more money to stock all these hubs But to have a to be a consumer to spend as much money you want to be able to choose what you want So I think they do a really good job at that as well.

All right, so now let's do some measuring of the rim, internal and external weight.

21 millimeters seems to be the norm of the industry.

You have Roval CLX on the internal there, But you're seeing more and more companies actually start to go a little bit wider.

Princeton has always been kind of conservative in terms of internal rim width.

Like even when everyone was kind of doing 20, they were still in the 19 on the internal rim width.

And he's a firm believer, obviously the owner of the company sponsors a lot of track races, a lot of triathlon races, a lot of TT races and he believes that this wheel is optimal for a 700 by 25 seat tire.

So internal they're saying is a 21 on here which is pretty normal and allows a really wide tire but you're seeing Bond Trigger now do 23 you're seeing Zipp I think do 23 you're seeing Reserve wheels do 23 but Revol C-Lex's are still 21 Princeton's still 20 just 21 they were 20.5 and a lot of the compys are still 21 out there.

So let's go ahead measure the internal I know it's very faint, but to 21.39, which is really good And then for the exterior 0 out On the exterior we're at a 28.6 exterior of the rim on here as well.

Now what we're going to do is we're going to weigh them and tell you guys the overall collective weight of this wheel set.

They were saying that they were able to save 10 grams off each rim because of the fact that the place where the spoke actually hits the rim is not as pronounced out now.

Let's see what this weighs in that for the set All right, both wheels are on the counter gram scales out of 0 Let's go ahead and put these suckers on Boom here.

Front wheel weight is combined weight 1,409 grams.

I know not in terms of the Chinese world right now, but in terms of a deep dish 65 millimeter wheel with a 24 spoke hole in there is really light for an aerodynamic pair of wheels.

And that is gonna do it for this video guys.

I think really does reign supreme for 1, just cause of the fact of choice of colors, options, hubs, everything like that.

So they are really, really high on wheel.
