Where Google Meet saves your recording

When you record a Meet call, Google saves the video to the meeting organiser's Google Drive, inside a folder called Meet Recordings. A link is also emailed to the organiser and whoever started the recording.

To transcribe it, choose the cloud import option above and connect Google Drive — you can pick the recording without downloading anything. If someone shared the file with you instead, download it and use the file upload.

Recording requires an eligible Google Workspace plan. If your plan can't record, a simple workaround is to capture the meeting locally with a screen recorder and upload that file here — screen recordings with voice transcribe just as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I transcribe a Google Meet recording?

Connect Google Drive in the import box above, open the Meet Recordings folder and pick your file — or upload a downloaded recording. The transcript arrives in minutes with speaker labels.

Where do Google Meet recordings go?

They're saved to the meeting organiser's Google Drive in a folder named Meet Recordings, and a link is emailed to the organiser and the person who started recording.

My Google Meet plan can't record — what can I do?

Record the meeting locally with any screen recorder and upload the file here. Screen recordings with clear voice audio transcribe just as accurately.

Are speakers identified in the transcript?

Yes — voices are separated and labelled automatically, and you can rename each speaker once for the whole transcript.

Which languages are supported?

97+ languages, with solid handling of accents and mixed-language meetings. Finished transcripts can also be translated.

Is it free to transcribe Meet recordings?

There's a free daily allowance that covers typical meetings. Longer sessions and regular use are part of the paid plan.

Can I get a summary of the meeting too?

Yes — after transcription you can generate a summary, action items and highlights, or ask the AI chat anything about the discussion.
